Disabling a firewall program sometimes isn't enough. You might have to un-install a firewall program and reboot to see if it was causing the problem. How satisfied are you with this reply? Steve, Sorry I didn't answer sooner; I thought I would be notified of answers but that didn't happen, I don't know why. Disabling both Norton and Windows firewalls didn't help; I had done that earlier and did it again with no improvement. However, uninstalling Symantec's Norton Security worked. The computer now pings itself and accesses other computers in the network. Many thanks. Tengo un equipo con xp y otro con seven pero no puedo tener red entre los dos tengo un router dlink y desdde el seven tengo ping hacia el xp pero no desde el xp ya intente el uso compartido no funciono y que esten en la misma red y el mismo grupo de trabajo pero no logro poder compartir o que sevean por las ip alguien me podria orientar Gracias.
